What is the return policy?

We want you to enjoy your musical life and we think our mouthpieces will add to it. If they don’t, you’re welcome to return them or swap them for a different model. Please just let us know what you need, preferably within two weeks of receiving your order.

What about rims?

Our experience has been that most players today already play two-piece mouthpieces and choose rims based on what is the most comfortable for their unique facial structure and playing style. There are Alpine rim designs in our future plans, but right now we’re focused on amazing cups.

Each of our mouthpieces comes standard with an American style .750”-36 thread (750 series) or a PHC style .800”-36 thread (800 series). If you already own a rim, it’s important to figure out which series is right for you, as the threads are not interchangeable.

These two series fit the majority of rims being used, but there are some notable exceptions that are incompatible, such as those made by Lawson and L’Oliphant.

We’re happy to suggest compatible rims if you don’t already have a favorite.

Will it fit my horn? Do you have anything with a Euro shank?

Any leadpipe with an accurately formed Morse 0 inlet will happily accept an Alpine mouthpiece. Consistency from mouthpiece to mouthpiece is very important to us, and the shank diameter is one of the most critical measurements. The shank is the first thing we machine on a mouthpiece, and the diameter is checked on every single mouthpiece and adjusted if necessary.

We do not currently offer a Euro shank option outside of special orders. Many European-made instruments will work properly with the Morse taper.

Why raw brass instead of silver plate?

Silver plating mouthpieces is not a perfect science. Plating does not deposit evenly, and the buffing required before and after also significantly affects tolerances.

The connection between the shank and the horn leadpipe inlet is one of the most important acoustic bridges; a tight tolerance taper on the shank is more important than a polished silver finish.

Alpine mouthpieces are not the brass you may be familiar with. Our lead-free brass alloy means silver plating is not necessary for health concerns. This alloy is also harder and stronger than the common leaded brass.

How does one care for a raw brass mouthpiece?

It’s not much different than other mouthpieces, keep it clean and dry and brush out any crud that builds up inside the cup. Brass will naturally patina to a nice golden color, but if you prefer a bright finish, you can de-oxidize the mouthpiece with citric acid or use a deoxidizing polish like Maas or Semichrome.

Are there any custom options?

We invite you to get in touch if you have special requests or want to discuss anything outside the scope of our stock offerings. We stay pretty busy with our current catalog and we always have crazy things we’re working on, but we’re happy to hear your needs and see what we can do.
